Job Description

Our client is seeking a Tribology Engineer to join their growing performance lubricants team. This position will report directly to the Global Technology Manager at one of their Wilmington, DE area locations.

The position of Tribology Engineer will work closely with the technical, application and commercial teams to be a point of expertise providing input into the R&D and application development programs in the Performance Lubricants business.

More specifically the person will be in charge of directing and evaluating work in the Performance Lubricants Tribology Lab. This is a highly visible, key global role with direct responsibility to help grow the performance lubricants business.

In particular;

  • Be a global technical and scientific lead for the business in the area of tribology and be the go-to expert in this area
  • Provide guidance and support to the application development engineers 
  • Work closely with the marketing, sales, application development, and business teams
  • Work with current and prospective customers to continually improve product performance
  • Be the visible company tribology expert both internally and externally
  • Lead specific programs through the technical service laboratories
  • Work with academic research groups to lead new developments in lubricants.

Job Requirements

  • MS degree in Engineering or related field with experience in tribology. PhD would be an advantage, with published papers in the field of tribology
  • Deep and practical understanding of tribology and testing methods
  • Hands-on practical experience with heavy equipment, automotive, or tribology testing equipment
  • In depth understanding of friction, wear, and the function of lubricants in field use or hands on maintenance experience
  • First class project management skills
  • Excellent leadership, team building, influencing and communication skills
